Stock Charts DeFi Meter

Different markets. Comparable questions.

The Stock Charts DeFi Meter connects equity-market context with crypto research without pretending that the instruments or observation schedules are identical. Align the exact series before comparing returns or apparent co-movement. These are chart-reading guides, not live equity quotes or claims that ordinary stock markets are DeFi.

The question to ask

Are these two charts answering the same question over the same window?

Synchronize sessions before interpreting shape

TradingView’s session documentation explains that charts can use different session definitions. Save the settings behind both observations. A flat section caused by missing new observations should not be described as continuous trading at an unchanged price. Make your treatment of gaps explicit.

Normalize deliberately

Rebasing two fictional series to 100 can make their percentage changes easier to compare. The starting observation still matters, and the resulting line remains a description of the selected price series. Do not turn a price-only comparison into a claim about total returns, execution costs, or which investment is preferable.

Separate co-movement from explanation

Two series changing in the same direction establishes an observation under the chosen period. It does not establish that one caused the other. Keep possible explanations labeled as hypotheses, preserve the sample boundaries, and avoid selecting a starting point only because it makes the relationship look striking.

Your research checklist

Capture the fields that matter.

Keep identifiers, assumptions, and missing evidence next to the observation.

01

Instrument

Listing, asset pair, venue, and quote currency

An index, stock, fund, and derivative are different objects.

02

Clock

Session, timezone, and exact observation timestamps

A carried-forward value is not a newly observed trade.

03

Price series

Adjustment policy and continuity

A per-share price change can require event-specific context.

04

Comparison

Common base, return definition, and exclusions

Price return does not automatically include distributions or costs.

Practical questions

Know the limits
of the reading.

Should stock and crypto charts share a daily close?

Choose and explain an observation rule appropriate to your question. Matching clock times and using each instrument’s own session close answer different questions.

Can chart context replace protocol research?

No. A market comparison does not establish asset backing, contract controls, withdrawal conditions, or pool-level execution.
