DeFi Meter

Four lenses. A clearer research question.

A DeFi meter should help you ask a better question, not replace your judgment with a colored score. Our framework keeps four readings separate: liquidity, activity, market context, and risk. Use it to organize evidence about an identified asset, pool, deployment, or network. This is an educational guide, not a live dashboard or a trading signal.

The question to ask

What changed, under which definition, and what remains unknown?

Give every reading a job

Use liquidity to investigate execution conditions at a named size. Use activity to describe what occurred during a defined interval. Use market context to explain the price and timeframe around an observation. Use a dependency record to show what the measured numbers do not answer. These are complementary questions, not four votes in a universal ranking.

Keep disagreements visible

Suppose a fictional pool has a higher dollar balance but unchanged token quantities and lower measured volume. Those observations can coexist. A useful note identifies the valuation contribution and the weaker activity reading rather than averaging them into a reassuring label. The question is what explains the difference, not which number looks best.

Make the method reproducible

Record identifiers and definitions before calculations. Preserve the original observations alongside any percentage change. When coverage or methodology changes, create a new comparison or reconcile the old series. Another reader should be able to follow the same steps and understand why you stopped short of a broader conclusion.

Your research checklist

Capture the fields that matter.

Keep identifiers, assumptions, and missing evidence next to the observation.

01

Object

Exact asset, pool, contract, or deployment

Do not compare a single pool with a network total.

02

Observation

Source, timestamp, interval, and unit

A current page view is not necessarily a current data observation.

03

Interpretation

Measured change, possible explanation, and limit

A dollar-value increase alone does not establish fresh deposits.

04

Next question

The missing evidence that would change the conclusion

An unknown input should stay unknown, not become a zero-risk score.

Practical questions

Know the limits
of the reading.

Is DeFiMeter a live sentiment index?

No. DeFiMeter.com provides research guides and illustrative examples. It does not publish live scores, prices, or personalized investment recommendations.

Where should a beginner start?

Read the four-lens introduction, then the guide to TVL, volume, and fees. Choose a chain-specific topic only after defining the asset or application you want to understand.
